DARPG Launches National e-Governance Webinar Series to Spotlight Innovative Initiatives

New Delhi: The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) has initiated the National e-Governance Webinar Series (NeGW 2023-24) since September 22, 2023, aiming to disseminate and replicate award-winning e-governance initiatives of India. Held monthly, typically on the third Friday of every month, NeGW 2023-24 serves as a platform to showcase exemplary projects driving digital transformation across various sectors.

Today marked the 6th installment of the National e-Governance Webinar under the theme “Excellence in adopting Emerging Technologies.”

The webinar featured presentations on two distinguished initiatives.

Trinetra: Integrated Command and Control Center (i3C): Narasimha Komar, Addl. DGP (Administration), Police Department, Government of Gujarat, demonstrated the Trinetra project. This initiative significantly enhances the police department’s capabilities in surveillance, incident investigation, traffic management, and enforcement through an extensive camera network, video analytical tools, and a team of trained engineers.

North Eastern Spatial Data Repository (NeSDR): Dr. Dibyajyoti Chutia, Head GID, North Eastern Space Applications Centre, Umiam, Meghalaya, Department of Space, Government of India, shed light on NeSDR. This repository acts as a hub for geospatial big analytics, leveraging the center’s computational capabilities to address a range of societal issues, including deforestation, disaster management, disease surveillance, food security, water management, climate monitoring, and environmental protection.

The webinar, chaired by V.Srinivas, Secretary, DARPG, applauded the award-winning initiatives for harnessing emerging technologies to enhance service delivery and drive innovation in governance practices. Srinivas recommended the replication of initiatives like Trinetra and NeSDR to further strengthen governance frameworks across the nation.

The event drew participation from 505 officials nationwide, including Principal Secretaries, AR Secretaries, IT Secretaries, District Collectors, Police Departments, State Information Officers, and representatives from academia.

The National e-Governance Webinar Series continues to serve as a catalyst for sharing best practices, fostering collaboration, and accelerating the pace of digital transformation in India’s governance landscape.
