Cuttack Revises School, Anganwadi Timings Amid Heatwave; Classes to End by 9 AM

Cuttack: Responding to rising temperatures and heatwave-like conditions, the district administration in Cuttack has revised the functioning hours of all educational institutions and Anganwadi centres, shifting them to early morning to ensure children’s safety.

As per an order issued by the Office of the District Magistrate and Collector, all government, government-aided, and private schools will now operate from 6:30 am to 9:00 am. The revised timing has been introduced as a precautionary step to reduce students’ exposure to extreme daytime heat.

Anganwadi centres across the district have also been directed to follow the same schedule and close by 9:00 am, keeping in view the vulnerability of young children to high temperatures.

Authorities have instructed heads of institutions to strictly adhere to the new timings and ensure adequate safety measures. Schools have been advised to provide safe drinking water and avoid outdoor activities during operational hours.

The administration has cautioned that any violation of the directive will invite strict action under relevant provisions. Officials added that the situation will be reviewed regularly, and further decisions will be taken based on weather conditions.
