CSIR-NIScPR Celebrates 9th Ayurveda Day, Showcases Integration of Ayurveda in Modern Healthcare
New Delhi: The CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) today celebrated the 9th Ayurveda Day, underscoring the role of Ayurveda in modern healthcare and its cultural heritage. Held at the CSIR-NIScPR S.V. Marg Campus, the event included a tree-planting initiative, “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam,” and an engaging program of lectures and activities promoting Ayurveda’s potential in personalized healthcare.
Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director of CSIR-NIScPR, inaugurated the event with an address that highlighted the significance of India’s ancient knowledge, particularly from the Vedic era. Recalling the historic contributions of knowledge hubs like Nalanda and Takshashila, Prof. Aggarwal emphasized CSIR-NIScPR’s efforts through SVASTIK (Scientifically Validated Societal Traditional Knowledge), a national initiative aimed at sharing case studies and stories on Indian Traditional Knowledge with society.
A special lecture titled “Ayurgenomics and Prakriti: Innovative Integration of Traditional Wisdom and Modern Science for Personalized Healthcare” was delivered by Dr. Bhavana Prasher, Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-IGIB, New Delhi. Introduced by Dr. Monika Jaggi, Principal Scientist at CSIR-NIScPR, Dr. Prasher highlighted how Ayurveda and genomics intersect to offer individualized health solutions based on traditional Ayurvedic principles.
The event also featured a free health check-up camp and Prakriti Parikshan, organized in collaboration with Dr. Shaizi Layeeq and her team from CCRAS (Ministry of AYUSH), New Delhi. Participants received insights into Ayurveda’s role in preventive and personalized health, affirming Ayurveda’s contribution to India’s cultural and healthcare landscape.
