CSC and IFFCO Join Hands to Empower Farmer Producer Organizations Under Central Sector Scheme

New Delhi: A landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between CSC e-Governance Services India Limited (CSC SPV) and Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) to bolster agricultural development and support 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) under the Government of India’s Central Sector Scheme.

The agreement, signed by Sanjay Rakesh, Managing Director and CEO of CSC SPV, and Yogendra Kumar, Marketing Director of IFFCO, ensures the provision of essential agricultural inputs such as fertilizers, seeds, and agrochemicals to FPOs, empowering small and marginal farmers across the country.

The Central Sector Scheme for the Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs, launched in 2020, aims to reduce production costs, improve incomes, and foster sustainability by aggregating farmers’ produce. This collaboration between CSC and IFFCO seeks to transform FPOs into Common Services Centres, ensuring their financial viability and facilitating rural employment.

By making critical agricultural inputs readily accessible, the partnership is set to enhance productivity while encouraging sustainable farming practices, a crucial step in modernizing Indian agriculture.

Speaking at the event, Sanjay Rakesh underscored the initiative’s potential to drive rural transformation. “This partnership combines the strengths of CSC and IFFCO to deliver significant benefits to small and marginal farmers. It will enhance agricultural productivity, generate rural employment, and contribute to the digital empowerment of India’s farming community,” he said.

CSC SPV has played a pivotal role in rural development, offering services like:

  • Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
  • Teleconsultations and crop insurance
  • E-veterinary services and Kisan Credit Card facilitation
  • Support under the PM Kisan scheme
