Conference of Governors Concludes with Emphasis on Inclusive Development and Technological Advancements

New Delhi: The two-day Conference of Governors concluded today at Rashtrapati Bhavan, with President Smt. Droupadi Murmu lauding the collective efforts of the Governors for their comprehensive discussions and mutual learning. In her closing remarks, the President expressed confidence that the valuable ideas and suggestions brought forth by the Governors would be implemented effectively.

The second day of the conference featured presentations from six groups of Governors, who shared their deliberations and suggested a future roadmap before President Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Vice President Dhankhar noted that the conference had left a lasting impact on all participants, emphasizing the importance of open communication with state governments for effective governance.

Prime Minister Modi urged the Governors to develop an ideal model of governance within Raj Bhavans, highlighting the importance of staff training, technological adoption, and digitization. He encouraged leveraging alumni networks of educational institutions to create drug-free campuses and promoting natural farming, inspired by the Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat. The Prime Minister called for Raj Bhavans to serve as sources of inspiration and motivation.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended the Governors’ efforts, ensuring that actionable points from their reports would be addressed to enhance the effectiveness of Raj Bhavans.

President Murmu emphasized that the country’s development hinges on the inclusive and accelerated progress of its states, advocating for the adoption of best practices and experiences across states. She stressed the importance of last-mile delivery in public welfare programs to ensure no eligible citizen is left out, urging Governors to guarantee that benefits reach all eligible individuals for true inclusive development.

Highlighting the significance of women’s participation in social inclusion, the President advocated for the empowerment of women through self-help groups and women-led startups. She encouraged Governors to engage with women entrepreneurs and institutions supporting women empowerment.

Addressing the welfare of Scheduled Areas and Scheduled Tribes, President Murmu underscored the importance of utilizing resources allocated for tribal communities effectively. She expressed hope that Governors would prioritize this suggestion.

The President also called for Raj Bhavans to reflect Indian ethos and foster public connection by organizing social and cultural events, making Raj Bhavans accessible to the public. She emphasized the global appreciation of India’s digital initiatives, advocating for the use of digital mediums in Raj Bhavan operations and promoting awareness about cyber security and technological innovations through seminars and symposiums.

Concluding the conference, President Murmu stressed the importance of the smooth functioning of institutions for public welfare and overall development. She expressed confidence that cooperative federalism and mutual coordination between central institutions would be enhanced through the suggestions made by the Governors, setting an ideal example for citizens and guiding the nation toward inclusive growth and development.
