Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik added to the fervor at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium today as he graced the Men’s FIH Pro League 2023/24 match between India and Spain, extending his best wishes to both teams.
The Kalinga Hockey Stadium buzzed with vibrant energy as Chief Minister Patnaik joined the hockey enthusiasts in cheering for their favorite teams on the turf.
Expressing his joy at the return of international hockey to Odisha, Chief Minister Patnaik stated, “It is with great pleasure I once again welcome the hockey fraternity to Odisha. The World Cup 2023 was a huge success, and since then, the enthusiasm for hockey has been on the rise. My best wishes to all teams participating in the FIH Pro League 2023/24 season.”
Highlighting the significant role of Odisha’s partnership with Hockey India, Chief Minister Patnaik mentioned how it has been instrumental in bringing premier hockey tournaments to the country, fostering a comprehensive ecosystem for the sport.
The Indian Men’s Team is set to face formidable opponents, including Netherlands, Spain, Australia, and Ireland, in their home matches from February 10 to 16 in Bhubaneswar. Subsequently, they will move to Rourkela for their return fixtures scheduled between February 19 to 25. Meanwhile, the Women’s Team is gearing up for their return matches against United States of America, China, Netherlands, and Australia from February 12 to 18. The FIH Pro League matches promise to be a thrilling display of skill and sportsmanship, and the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik adds to the grandeur of the event.
