CM Naveen Patnaik Extends Financial Aid to Rescued Odia Labourers from Uttarakhand Tunnel
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has extended financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to each of the four Odia labourers who were recently rescued from a partially collapsed tunnel in Uttarakhand. The labourers, Raju Nayak, Dhiren Nayak, Bisheshwar Nayak of Mayurbhanj, and Bhagaban Bhatra of Nabarangpur, were welcomed at the Chief Minister’s residence in Bhubaneswar.
Arriving in the Odisha capital via a special flight from New Delhi, the four labourers shared their harrowing 17-day experience inside the tunnel with CM, who enquired about their health. Praising their courage and resilience during the challenging ordeal, CM Patnaik provided financial aid as a gesture of support.
Five Odia workers were among the 41 individuals trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand when a portion of it collapsed on November 12. The extensive rescue operation concluded on November 28, successfully bringing the trapped individuals, including the four Odia labourers, to safety.
While Tapan Mandal, another Odia worker rescued from the tunnel, is currently staying with relatives in the hill state.
