Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the first anniversary of his government, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today met with leading industrialists, MSME entrepreneurs, women business leaders, and start-up representatives to outline his government’s achievements and future roadmap for industrial growth in the state.

Thanking the industry stakeholders for partnering in Odisha’s growth journey, CM Majhi underscored the state’s emergence as a fulcrum of industrialization in Eastern India. “Odisha is not just the minerals and metals hub of India anymore — we are fast becoming a diversified industrial powerhouse,” he declared.

Reflecting on the past year’s progress, the Chief Minister said, “One year ago, the people of Odisha placed their faith in us to build a future that is inclusive, aspirational, and transformative. As we mark this milestone, we take pride in our achievements and reaffirm our commitment to an even more ambitious future.”

He recalled the landmark Utkarsha Odisha event and the pivotal role played by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in encouraging investments. “Over 150 MoUs were signed during the event, with investment intents worth ₹16.7 lakh crore and employment potential for over 12.9 lakh people,” he noted.

Record-Breaking Investment in One Year

In the past year alone, 206 large projects worth over ₹4.5 lakh crore were approved, almost double the five-year average, with a job creation potential of nearly 2.9 lakh. Notably, 56 projects have already reached the ground-breaking and inauguration stage, involving a combined investment of ₹1.78 lakh crore and employment potential of 1.1 lakh.

These projects span 20 sectors—from traditional domains like mining, metallurgy, and metal downstream to sunrise sectors including chemicals, food processing, apparel, textiles, renewable energy, electronics, and tourism.

Four Strategic Priorities for Next Year

Looking ahead, CM Majhi outlined four key priorities for the coming year:

  1. Introduction of new policies targeting emerging sectors with global competitiveness.

  2. Expansion of the state’s land bank and industrial infrastructure to meet future demands.

  3. Overhaul of the single-window clearance system with a new integrated project-tracking platform.

  4. Deregulation and simplification of industrial processes for faster approvals and efficient coordination.

Towards ‘Samrudha Odisha 2036’

The Chief Minister emphasized that the next four years would be pivotal in laying the foundation for Samrudha Odisha 2036, a vision for a prosperous and industrially robust state. He highlighted major collaborations with industrial giants like IOCL, JSW, JSPL, Tata Steel, AMNS, Vedanta, Hindalco, and Adani, and reiterated the state’s commitment to port-based industrialization along the Paradip-Dhamra-Gopalpur corridor.

Leadership Presence and Promises

The event also saw participation from key cabinet ministers and top bureaucrats. Minister for MSME & Fisheries and ARD, Gokula Nanda Mallik, and Minister for Industries & Skill Development, Sampad Chandra Swain, were present alongside Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Srimati Anu Garg.

The welcome address was delivered by Additional Chief Secretary (Industry) Hemant Kumar Sharma, while the vote of thanks was offered by Industry Director Prashant Kumar Reddy.

As Odisha gears up to mark one year under the leadership of CM Mohan Majhi, today’s interaction signaled both a celebration of achievements and a clarion call for deeper collaboration with industry to realize a bold and inclusive vision for the future.
