CM Mohan Charan Majhi Unveils Development Plans for Pipili, Emphasizes Heritage Preservation

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the Kumar festival organized by the Hardurga Youth Club at Alarpur near Pipili on Tuesday evening, where he announced significant development initiatives for the region. Majhi highlighted the rich heritage of the Delang-Pipili area, known for its world-famous Chandua handicrafts and the Naga dance, as well as its long-standing tradition of hosting the Dayanachori fairs in Harirajpur and Balanga.

Addressing the gathering, Majhi emphasized the BJP-led government’s commitment to restoring peace and fostering development in the region, stating, “For the first time, you have entrusted us with governing Odisha, and we are committed to the development of this great land associated with Jagannath culture.”

The Chief Minister praised the local artisans, particularly those involved in the creation of Chandua, which holds special significance in the Rath Yatra, where the chariots of Lord Jagannath are adorned with these intricate handicrafts. “Your handmade Chanduas are admired by even Lord Jagannath, and we are committed to honoring and supporting your artistry by providing a larger market for your work,” he said, bowing to the local sculptors.

Major Development Plans Unveiled:

  • Chandua Project Support: Majhi assured that substantial funding would be provided for the development of the Pipili Chandua project, recognizing the art form as a key cultural and economic asset of the region.
  • Eco-Tourism Initiative: A new eco-tourism area will be developed near the Pipili Toll Plaza to boost tourism in the district. In addition, the Gandhi Memorial will be given special attention to further enhance the area’s tourist appeal.
  • Vishwanath Temple Restoration: Special funds will also be allocated for the development of the Vishwanath Temple, a sacred site in the region, to promote religious tourism.
  • Support for Farmers: In addressing the needs of local farmers, Majhi announced plans to convert the Uttarayana cold storage into a large facility, offering better preservation and distribution options for agricultural produce.

The Chief Minister also reflected on Odisha’s cultural richness, describing the autumn season as the Parvan season, marked by the celebration of Durga Puja, Kumar Purnima, and Kali Puja. He emphasized the importance of these festivals in showing gratitude to nature and divine power, stating, “This period is the most joyful and heavenly for all of us.”

Majhi also took the opportunity to praise the Hardurga Youth Club for its role in preserving the art, culture, and traditions of the Pipili region through the annual Kumar festival.

Majhi underscored the BJP government’s focus on addressing the needs of the people, highlighting the swift implementation of welfare programs. “In just 100 days, our government has earned the reputation of being a people’s government, fulfilling several promises made during the election campaign,” he said. The grievance redressal program, he noted, is actively working to meet people’s concerns and resolve them promptly.
