CM Mohan Charan Majhi Launches 158 Development Projects Worth Over Rs 987 Crore in Keonjhar

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated 158 development projects valued at over Rs 987 crore during a district-level function in Keonjhar on Sunday, marking the completion of 100 days of his government. The event saw the inauguration of 55 projects and the laying of foundations for an additional 98 projects.

Speaking to attendees, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the lives of the people. “Our government continues to try to put smiles in people’s hearts and not just on their faces,” he remarked, underscoring the promises made in the Sankalp Patra during the elections. He attributed the fall of the previous BJD government to its disconnection from the public, stating, “It has been proved in the 2024 elections that people will not accept a government that ignores their problems.”

The Chief Minister announced the opening of the state’s first grievance cell camp in Keonjhar, aimed at addressing local issues and providing justice to residents. He acknowledged the poverty challenges in Keonjhar and highlighted the government’s visionary programs to combat poverty and malnutrition, mentioning ongoing developments in transport, health, infrastructure, and railway sectors.

Majhi assured that the long-standing Kanupur irrigation project, which has been incomplete for 40 years, would be operational by next June, fulfilling the aspirations of local residents. He also announced the implementation of the Ladbil-Paradip eight-lane road project and the establishment of the Uttar Odisha Development Council to expedite regional development.

In a nod to cultural heritage, the Chief Minister revealed that Rs 50 crore has been allocated for the beautification of the Maa Tarini Temple, with plans for a total expenditure of Rs 2,000 crore in the coming days. He also mentioned the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express train service, which will soon connect Keonjhar to New Delhi.

Majhi recounted the government’s swift actions after assuming office, including the decision to open the gates of the Puri Jagannath Temple and allocate a budget of Rs 2,000 crore for the promotion of the Odia language. He expressed hope for continued cooperation from the people of Keonjhar to accelerate development efforts.

“Our goal is to build a golden Keonjhar by effectively utilizing the district’s natural and human resources,” he concluded, calling for collective determination and support from the community.
