Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a ₹10 increase in the minimum daily wage for workers across different skill categories. The revised wages will come into effect retrospectively from April 1, 2025.
Describing the Chief Minister as a “people’s leader,” officials said the decision underscores his continued commitment to safeguarding the interests of workers and ensuring fair compensation for their labour.
As per the revised wage structure:
- Unskilled workers will now receive ₹462 per day, up from ₹452.
- Semi-skilled workers will earn ₹512, up from ₹502.
- Skilled workers will be paid ₹562, compared to the earlier ₹552.
- Highly skilled workers will now get ₹612, up from ₹602.
This wage revision is expected to benefit thousands of labourers working across sectors in the state and reflects the government’s responsiveness to rising costs and the demand for better living standards for the working population.
Labour department officials are expected to issue detailed implementation guidelines shortly, ensuring that employers across public and private sectors comply with the new wage norms.
