Khurda: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi officially launched the ‘Bikashita Gaon, Bikashita Odisha’ scheme at a programme in Khurda on Wednesday. The Odisha government has issued guidelines for implementing the scheme, emphasizing inclusive and sustainable development in rural areas. Under the initiative, each village will submit a five-year development plan by February 15, outlining priority projects. The government has allocated ₹1,000 crore in the 2024-25 budget for this initiative, ensuring direct funding to panchayats based on new guidelines. Backward and tribal regions will receive top priority.

Of the total budget, ₹400 crore (40%) will be allocated exclusively to 121 blocks under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), ensuring focused development in tribal areas. The remaining ₹600 crore will be utilized for the growth of 193 other blocks.

The scheme covers multiple infrastructure projects, including better roads, community centers, Kalyan Mandaps, market sheds, and changing rooms near ponds and rivers. Additionally, reading rooms with internet facilities will be set up in every block to support students preparing for competitive exams, offering them a dedicated study space for a nominal fee.
