CM Majhi Hands Over Appointment Letters to 964 New Recruits

Bhubaneswar: In a major step toward strengthening public service delivery and youth employment, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday handed over appointment letters to 964 newly recruited officials at a Nijukti Mela held at Krushi Sikhya Sadan, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar. The event marked a strong reaffirmation of the state government’s commitment to fast-tracking recruitment and creating job opportunities across key sectors.

The latest round of appointments spans five departments: 563 in the Works Department, 204 in Housing and Urban Development, 117 in Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, 62 in Water Resources, and 18 in Food Supply and Consumer Welfare. Recruits include Junior Engineers, Junior Accountants, Tracers, Legal Metrology Inspectors, and Implementation Officers.

Speaking to the new appointees, CM Majhi underscored the importance of youth participation in governance. “Our youth are the driving force behind Odisha’s growth story. We have resolved to fill 1.5 lakh government posts within five years — 65,000 of them within the first two years. Already, 28,346 posts have been filled. By June 2026, we aim to exceed our target,” he said.

Majhi also highlighted the rising momentum in private sector job creation. “In the last year alone, 45,000 youths secured jobs in private industries, taking the total job creation under our government to over 73,000,” he noted.

Referring to the state’s industrial strategy, the Chief Minister pointed to the ‘Utkarsh Odisha 2025’ initiative, which has drawn investment proposals worth ₹17 lakh crore across 16 sectors. “These are not just numbers. They translate into 12.9 lakh job opportunities for our people. In just five months, 56 industrial units have been inaugurated or had foundation stones laid, leading to over 1.10 lakh new jobs,” he added.

He also emphasized that the government is committed to maintaining a clean and merit-based recruitment process. “We’ve enacted stringent laws to eliminate corruption and favouritism in hiring. Government service must be grounded in integrity and public spirit,” he urged the appointees.

The occasion was graced by several cabinet ministers who praised the new recruits and acknowledged the government’s efforts to promote transparent hiring practices. Food and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said the energy and talent of the youth will help realize the vision of a prosperous Odisha. Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra called the appointments a sacred responsibility toward the people.

Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik expressed hope that the new recruits would strengthen last-mile service delivery, while Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan described the event as “the beginning of a historic employment drive never witnessed before in post-independence Odisha.”

Several appointees also shared their excitement and gratitude. Shivlal Kisan, Anusaya Mohanty, B. Prabodh Ranjan Patra, Sandhya Rani Sahoo, Chandi Prasad Mishra, and Adyasha Singh — representing different departments — thanked the government for ensuring transparency and timeliness in the recruitment process.
