CM Majhi Distributes Appointment Letters to 1,686 Candidates at 11th Nijukti Mela

Bhubaneswar: A fresh wave of government appointments swept across Odisha today as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi handed over appointment letters to 1,686 candidates at the 11th Nijukti Mela organised at the IDCO Exhibition Ground. The Chief Minister described government jobs as “a blend of livelihood security and a powerful avenue for public service.”

The recruitments spanned seven departments, with the Health and Family Welfare Department leading with 982 appointees. The Water Resources Department followed with 413, while the remaining appointments were made in Skill Development and Technical Education (136), Finance (61), Law (37), Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment (34), and Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (23). This marks the second such large-scale recruitment drive in the government’s second year of office.

Congratulating the new recruits, Majhi urged them to work with honesty and dedication, emphasising that integrity would be their strongest foundation. “Your honesty and commitment will be your greatest assets. Work with the spirit of public service and the blessings of the common people will always be with you,” he said, encouraging them to remain corruption-free and people-centric.

The Chief Minister also underlined the government’s commitment to employment generation. Over the past 15 months, he noted, 30,032 candidates have secured jobs through Nijukti Melas, with a target of 65,000 posts within two years. He added that by June 2026, another 40,000 posts would be filled, taking the combined total of government and private sector opportunities created to 1,07,926.

Majhi assured transparency in the recruitment process, saying, “No allegations of corruption have surfaced in any examinations. Even the slightest irregularity is dealt with firmly. Our focus is on ensuring equal opportunity for every aspirant.”

During the ceremony, the Chief Minister personally handed letters to 30 selected candidates. Among them were Shibani Sarangi of Sambalpur, appointed in the Agriculture Department, and Biswajit Pradhan of Cuttack, appointed in the Finance Department, both of whom expressed gratitude for the fair and impartial process.

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo reiterated the government’s promise of providing 1.5 lakh jobs in five years, noting that over 30,000 have already been delivered. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling highlighted that the new appointments would strengthen healthcare services, while Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Fisheries Minister Gokulananda Mallik, Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, and Development Commissioner Anu Garg also marked their presence.
