Bhubaneswar: In a significant move towards localizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and enhancing the monitoring process for inclusive development at the district level, Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik launched the District SDG Indicator Framework Odisha and the SDG Odisha website. This initiative, inaugurated today, includes the release of Department-wise Ready Reckoners, Department-wise Convergence Matrices, and Mastering Metadata as part of the Odisha SDG Indicator Framework 2.0 series.

The SDGs comprise 17 goals and 169 targets, aiming for achievement by 2030 to create a more equitable society. The newly launched district framework will specifically target these goals at the local level, employing a more robust monitoring process supported by standardized data. This approach emphasizes the collaborative efforts of various departments, fostering convergence for faster, coordinated, and sustainable goal achievement.

Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik highlighted the alignment of the state’s policies with the SDGs, focusing on inclusive and equitable development. Initiatives such as Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, MAMATA, Mission Shakti, KALIA, Odisha Millets Mission, and others directly address challenges highlighted by the SDGs, reinforcing the commitment to ‘Leave No One Behind.’

The Chief Minister stressed the need for precise monitoring of progress, with the district administration playing a crucial role in connecting global goals with local communities. He announced the launch of the SDG-Odisha website, aiming to facilitate convergent efforts for a brighter and sustainable future for the state.

Chief Secretary Shri PK Jena emphasized the importance of monitoring progress at the local level for the success of SDG goals. Odisha has adopted a ‘whole of government’ and ‘whole of society’ approach to achieve better and quicker results. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Planning & Convergence Department, UN Agencies, and other partners for their collaborative efforts in this initiative. The event was attended by 5T Chairman Shri VK Pandian.
