Chief Secretary Visits World Skill Center, Praises Skill Development Initiatives

Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary of Odisha, Manoj Ahuja, visited the World Skill Center in Bhubaneswar today, exploring its state-of-the-art laboratories and engaging with students about the advanced skill courses offered at this premier institution. Accompanying him was NBS Rajput, Principal Secretary to the Governor & Skill Development and Technical Education Department, Government of Odisha.

During the visit, Ahuja and Rajput toured Kaushal Bhawan, where they expressed appreciation for the infrastructure and the extensive range of courses available to Odisha’s youth. The Chief Secretary was particularly impressed by the successful placements and international opportunities facilitated by the World Skill Center.

“The World Skill Center is making a significant impact on the development of Odisha by providing a platform for our talented youth to enhance their skills and prepare for industry demands,” remarked Ahuja. “This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to empowering the ‘Skilled In Odisha’ youth and maximizing their potential, ultimately advancing the skill ecosystem of Odisha and enhancing the prowess of its workforce.”

Ahuja emphasized the importance of improving the employability and skilling of Odisha’s youth. He interacted with students from various courses under the School of Engineering and the School of Services, expressing his appreciation for the efforts aimed at equipping the state’s youth for industry challenges.

The Chief Secretary visited several laboratories within the School of Engineering, including those focused on Vertical Transportation, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Mechanical & Electrical Services, and Air Conditioning & Refrigeration. He praised the advanced, ultramodern equipment available, which is instrumental in developing the skills of the youth.

The visit also featured discussions with key officials, including Rashmita Panda, IAS, CEO of the Odisha Skill Development Authority & CEO of World Skill Center; Pinaki Patnaik, Additional Secretary of Skill Development & Technical Education & COO of World Skill Center; T Thambyrajah, Principal of World Skill Center; Pitchian Anthonysamy, Director of the School of Engineering; and Lim Lai, Director of the School of Services.
