Bhubaneswar: In view of the forthcoming elections in Nabarangpur district, Odisha Chief Electoral Officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal conducted a comprehensive review of the district’s preparedness. The review, held in collaboration with Additional DG Police and State Police Nodal Officer Sanjay Kumar, aimed to ensure robust arrangements for the upcoming electoral process.

Accompanied by DIGP (South Western Range) Charan Singh Meena, the CEO scrutinized various facets of election preparedness, particularly focusing on the law and order situation within the district.

During the review session, Dhal engaged in detailed discussions with officials entrusted with election duties in Nabarangpur district. The deliberations encompassed crucial aspects of election management, including measures to enhance voter turnout, facilitation of polling centers, provision of voter amenities, considerations of political parties’ perspectives, and the utilization of Election Commission of India’s designated applications.

Furthermore, Dhal sought insights into the concerted efforts being undertaken by various departments to facilitate smooth conduct of the elections.

Emphasizing collaborative efforts, the CEO urged concerned departments such as forest, transport, police, unemployment, and state GST departments to coordinate effectively in their respective roles.

Subsequently, Dhal conducted an inspection of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) warehouses in the district. The inspection aimed to assess the security arrangements in place and ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

Addressing the media following the review, Dhal expressed confidence in the district administration’s preparedness to conduct free, fair, and participatory elections. He underscored the importance of media cooperation in fostering social awareness about the electoral process and urged for peaceful and orderly conduct during the polling period.
