
Bhubaneswar: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the ex-gratia for the victims of the train accident happened in Balasore district.
The Indian Railway Department will pay Rs 10 lakh in case of death while passengers who sustained grievous injuries will get Rs 2 lakh each. This apart Rs 50,000 will be given to the passengers who sustained minor injuries in the mishap.
So far 70 died and over 400 injured in the accident. The death toll is likely to rise as rescue operations are going on till the filing of this report.
According to information, over 10 coaches of Shalimar Chennai Coromandel Express derailed near Bahanaga station and fell on the opposite track at around 7 pm.
Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, which was passing in another track on the same route, collided with the derailed coaches of Shalimar Chennai Coromandel Express.
