
Bhubaneswar: In a major train accident, several coaches of Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express and Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express got derailed at Bahanaga Bazar Station near Balasore Odisha. The two trains are entangled with each other.
So far 50 died and over 350 injured in the accident. The death toll is likely to rise.
Relief and rescue works are going on at a fast pace with medical equipment and doctors have also rushed to the site from Kharagpur and Bhadrak.
According to sources, over 10 coaches of Shalimar Chennai Coromandel Express derailed near Bahanaga station and fell on the opposite track at around 7 pm.
Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, which was passing in another track on the same route, collided with the derailed coaches of Shalimar Chennai Coromandel Express.
The emergency control room at Balasore and another control room have been opened in the SRC office. People can contact 91 6782 262 286 at the Balasore control room or 0674-2534177 at the SRC office for information regarding the passengers.
