New Delhi: In a significant milestone for India’s Armed Forces, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan today released the Joint Doctrine for Amphibious Operations during the Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) meeting held in New Delhi. This keystone publication is expected to serve as a comprehensive guide for commanders on conducting amphibious operations in the increasingly complex military landscape.

The new doctrine enhances the Armed Forces’ capability to undertake a wide range of operations across the Indian Ocean Region, both in times of conflict and peace. Amphibious operations are vital for multi-domain military engagement, showcasing the strong cohesion and integration among India’s Army, Navy, and Air Force.

This release marks the second joint doctrine of the year, following the Joint Doctrine for Cyberspace Operations. Both documents emphasize the critical importance of jointness and integration within the Armed Forces, ensuring a unified approach to modern military challenges. The doctrine for amphibious operations will play a crucial role in enhancing India’s strategic and tactical responses to regional threats and emergencies, particularly in the maritime domain.
