C-DOT Partners with Silizium Circuits to Develop Indigenous LEO Satellite Components

New Delhi: In a significant move towards the development of state-of-the-art next-generation telecommunications technology, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, has signed an agreement with Silizium Circuits Pvt Ltd, a fabless Semiconductor IP & SoC Startup under FABCI (Fabless Chip Design Incubator) IIT Hyderabad.

The agreement, signed under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme of the Department of Telecommunications, marks a crucial step in fostering innovation and self-reliance in India’s satellite communication ecosystem. This scheme is specifically designed to support Indian startups, academia, and R&D institutions, promoting the design, development, and commercialization of telecommunication products and solutions.

Silizium Circuits, with support from TTDF, will focus on developing advanced semiconductor solutions for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite components. The initiative aims to tackle key challenges such as power efficiency, high-speed data transmission, and robust signal integrity in satellite communication. By leveraging its expertise in analog, RF, and mixed-signal technologies, Silizium Circuits will contribute to the development of high-performance, reliable communication systems.

Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, highlighted the importance of developing indigenous communication solutions, stating, “This partnership is a testament to C-DOT’s commitment to fostering innovation and self-reliance in India’s telecommunication sector. Our infrastructure and expertise will support Silizium Circuits in developing cutting-edge solutions that will enhance connectivity across both urban and rural regions, driving next-generation broadband services.”

Rijin John, Co-Founder & CEO of Silizium Circuits, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “Through this collaboration with C-DOT, we aim to create semiconductor solutions that will empower India’s satellite communication infrastructure, ensuring robust, efficient, and high-speed data transmission.”

The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both organizations, including Dr. Pankaj Kumar Dalela and Shikha Srivastava from C-DOT, along with senior representatives from the Department of Telecommunications, such as Dr. Parag Agarwal (DDG-TTDF) and Shri Vinod Kumar (DDG-SRI).
