
Bargarh: Bollywood actress Dia Mirza, known for her advocacy of indigenous craftsmanship, showcased her support for homegrown and handmade creations as she walked the ramp adorned in a stunning Sambalpuri saree. The occasion was the commencement of the Bargarh Handloom Summit 2024, held in the western town of Odisha on Thursday.
The two-day summit was organised in collaboration with the Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department, Western Odisha Development Council (WODC), and district administration in Bargarh. This year’s theme, ‘A Weave of Culture and Legacy,’ attracted thousands of stakeholders nationwide, including exhibitors from 20 states.
The primary objective of the summit is to showcase handloom products like Bomkai, Pashapali, Habaspuri, Sonpuri, Sambalpuri Bandha, and Ikat at the national level.
