Bhubaneswar: To curb the mosquito menace in the capital, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has started using drones to spray chemicals.
It can carry 10 litres of chemical and reach inaccessible areas of the city, which cannot be accessed by fogging vehicles and spraying machines.
The authorities aims to disinfect mosquito breeding hotspot like the narrow roads, lanes and by-lanes in the state capital. The drone will also be deployed in abandoned plots, pools and drains.
BMC also plans to increase the number of vehicles engaged in fogging activity in Bhubaneswar. This apart, a technical team will do a survey of the areas witnessing a rise in mosquito breeding.
