
Bhubaneswar: The candidates from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) submitted their nominations on Tuesday for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections scheduled for February 27, 2024.
Renowned BJD leader Debashish Samantaray and Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BJYD) Vice-President Subhasish Khuntia filed their nomination papers in the presence of Abanikant Patnaik, the Returning Officer of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, and BJD President Naveen Patnaik.
Accompanied by several BJD leaders, the event marked a significant step in the electoral process.
Subhasish Khuntia expressed his contentment with the decision of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the supreme leader of the party. Khuntia emphasized that the responsibility entrusted to him involves representing the concerns of Odisha at the national level. He took pride in being promoted by CM Patnaik and Kartik Pandian, the 5T chairman, highlighting his humble background from Puri.
Three-time BJD MLA Debashish Samantaray echoed similar sentiments, stating that the Chief Minister’s assignment reflects faith in his ability to address issues related to Barabati-Cuttack and the entire state on the national platform. He emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between the state and the Centre within the federal structure.
The Rajya Sabha elections are scheduled to take place on February 27, with voting between 9 am and 4 pm. The counting of votes will follow on the same day.
