Bhubaneswar: With Holi just days away, the Commissionerate Police has put in place strict measures to ensure public safety during the festival. Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena has warned that playing Holi under the influence of alcohol will not be tolerated, and those found intoxicated in public will face immediate arrest. Additionally, people have been cautioned against taking a dip in rivers or pools after drinking, as it poses serious safety risks.
To prevent any untoward incidents, police and fire department personnel will be deployed at key river ghats across the city. The Police Control Room (PCR) teams will monitor roads to prevent congestion and ensure smooth traffic movement. As part of enhanced security measures, 20 platoons of police force will be stationed at various locations in the capital on Holi day.
In an effort to promote a safe and eco-friendly festival, authorities have also intensified their crackdown on the illegal liquor trade and banned the sale of chemical-based colours. Only herbal and organic colours will be allowed in the market to minimize health risks.
As the city gets into the festive spirit, many residents are choosing organic colours made from natural ingredients, which are safer for the skin. However, police have urged citizens to be cautious while purchasing, as counterfeit products may flood the market.
DCP Meena emphasized that the police force is committed to ensuring a peaceful and joyous Holi for everyone. He urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and adhere to the safety guidelines to avoid legal consequences.
