Bhubaneswar Gears Up for 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas at Janata Maidan

Bhubaneswar: The 18th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is set to take place at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar, from January 8 to 10, 2024. In preparation for this prestigious event, Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania chaired a review meeting at the DGP Camp Office to oversee security and logistical arrangements.

The three-day event will bring together senior Central Government ministers, overseas Indian delegates, and dignitaries from the Ministry of External Affairs. The conference aims to strengthen ties with the Indian diaspora and celebrate their contributions to the country’s progress.

During the meeting, DGP Khurania emphasized the importance of robust security measures for the event. Discussions included VVIP security, seating arrangements for dignitaries and guests, attendee safety, and vehicle parking management at the venue.

The DGP also underscored the need for meticulous preparations for the accommodation of delegates. He directed regular inspections of hotels in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Kendrapara, and other districts to ensure the security and comfort of guests.

With overseas attendees expected to explore Odisha’s iconic tourist destinations, security measures in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri are being intensified. The DGP ordered the effective management of CCTV systems in key areas and a streamlined approach to traffic management to ensure a hassle-free experience for visitors.

The meeting was attended by top police officials, including Director (Intelligence) R.P. Koche, ADG (Modernization) S.K. Priyadarshi, ADG (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, ADG (Headquarters) Dayal Gangwar, Commissioner of Police (Cuttack-Bhubaneswar) S. Dev Datta Singh, and other senior officers.

This extensive planning reflects Odisha’s commitment to hosting the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas with efficiency and excellence, showcasing the state’s ability to organize large-scale international events. As preparations continue, Bhubaneswar is poised to welcome the Indian diaspora for a memorable and impactful gathering.
