BCCI suspends IPL 2021

In view of rising Covid-19 cases in India and players testing Covid positive, BCCI has suspended the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) for this season. Stating about the situation in India, BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla said India on Tuesday made this announcement.

Earlier today, Delhi Capitals’ Amit Mishra and Sunrisers Hyderabad’ Wriddhiman Saha tested COVID-19 positive.

While Wriddhiman has been in isolation since yesterday, Mishra was in quarantine.

The first news of breach in bio-bubble came on Monday when KKR players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier became the first players to test Covid positive. Due to this the Monday match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore was called off.

The bowling coach of Chennai Super Kings Lakshmipathy Balaji and a support staff also tested positive on Monday.
