Barabati Stadium to Host India vs England ODI After Five-Year Hiatus

Cuttack: Odisha’s historic Barabati Stadium in Cuttack is set to regain its international cricketing glory with the hosting of the second One Day International (ODI) between India and England on February 9 next year. This announcement comes as part of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) unveiling of Team India’s international home season fixtures for 2024-25.

Barabati Stadium, renowned for its passionate cricketing atmosphere, will witness international cricket action after a hiatus of over two and a half years. The last international match held at this iconic venue was a T20I encounter between India and South Africa in June 2022. However, in terms of ODIs, it has been more than five years since Barabati Stadium hosted a 50-over international match, with the last ODI played on December 22, 2019, featuring India against West Indies.

The upcoming ODI fixture between India and England is anticipated to draw significant attention from cricket enthusiasts, marking a notable return of top-tier cricket to this historic ground. Barabati Stadium’s rich history and memorable cricketing moments have cemented its place as a cherished venue among players and fans alike.

India’s international home season for 2024-25 will kick off with a riveting two-match Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19, followed by a three-match T20I series. Subsequently, India will lock horns with New Zealand in a three-match Test series commencing on October 16 in Bengaluru. As the new year unfolds, the focus will shift to white-ball cricket with England, featuring five T20Is and three ODIs as part of the scheduled series.
