
Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born diplomat Arun Kumar Sahu has been named as India’s next Ambassador to Bulgaria, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Wednesday. Sahu, a senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer from Deogarh, is expected to take up his new role soon.
Sahu, a 1996-batch IFS officer, currently serves as Additional Secretary (Central Europe) in the Ministry of External Affairs, a position he has held since September 2022. His diplomatic career includes a notable tenure as India’s High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago, where he effectively represented the nation’s interests.
With strong academic credentials, Sahu is an alumnus of Ravenshaw College and holds master’s degrees in War in the Modern World from King’s College London and in Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. His early education was rooted in Odisha, having studied at Ravenshaw Collegiate School in Cuttack and Chandra Sekhar Behera Zilla School in Sambalpur.
