Anubhav Awards Scheme Inspires Central Government Employees Nationwide

New Delhi: To extend the impact of Anubhav Awards initiative, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DOPPW) launched a monthly nationwide Webinar Series titled “Anubhav Awardees Speak” in November 2022. The 16th ‘Anubhav Awardees Speak’ webinar featured Shashi Kumar Valiathan, Director (Retd.), Government of India. The event was chaired by V. Srinivas, Secretary (Pension) and attended from hundreds of locations across the country.

In a bid to celebrate the invaluable experiences of retiring employees and motivate Central Government workers, the Anubhav Awards Scheme has successfully awarded 54 individuals and recognized 9 with Jury Certificates since its inception in 2015. The series aims to inspire commitment, dedication, and zeal among government employees by providing a platform for distinguished retirees to share their career insights.

So far, sixteen webinars have been conducted, featuring 27 speakers from diverse backgrounds and experiences, addressing participants from over 500 locations across the country. The sixteenth webinar, held on February 27, 2024, featured Shri Shashi Kumar Valiathan, Director (Retd), GoI, and Anubhav Jury Certificate Winner for 2023.

During the webinar, Shri Valiathan emphasized the significance of the roles played by Section Officers, Under Secretaries, and Deputy Secretaries in translating the voice of the secretariat. He highlighted the spirit of public service in nation-building, emphasizing that government servants hold positions of privilege and trust rather than power. Shri Valiathan encouraged participants to view every assignment as worthy and consider hard work as its own reward.

Secretary Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, Shri V. Srinivas, expressed gratitude to Shri Shashi Kumar Valiathan, acknowledging his commendable services in the Central Secretariat. Shri Valiathan’s meritorious contributions were recognized through the Anubhav Award in 2023. Secretary Srinivas urged retiring employees to contribute to the ‘Anubhav Portal,’ emphasizing the importance of documenting India’s administrative history.

The webinar garnered participation from officials across 526 locations, further strengthening the reach and impact of the Anubhav Awards Scheme. As the initiative continues to grow, it is anticipated that the experiences shared by retirees will serve as a beacon of inspiration for the next generation of Central Government employees.
