Bhubaneswar: A delegation led by Lanka Dinakar, Chairperson of the Twenty Points Programme (TPP), Government of Andhra Pradesh, is on a four-day study tour to Odisha to assess the state’s implementation of key development programmes and long-term policy frameworks.
The visit, scheduled from April 26 to 29, focuses on evaluating the execution of Centrally Sponsored Schemes, progress on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Odisha’s Vision Document aligned with the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. On April 27, the delegation held detailed discussions with senior state officials at Lok Seva Bhawan.
Welcoming the delegation, T Ao, Special Secretary of the Planning & Convergence Department, outlined the objectives of the interaction and highlighted Odisha’s development priorities.
Addressing the meeting, Dinakar appreciated the state’s growth trajectory under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and spoke about Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047. He noted that India is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2029–30.
He emphasised the importance of inter-state collaboration, pointing out that improved connectivity between Visakhapatnam and cities like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Berhampur could unlock new opportunities for regional economic integration. He added that the Visakhapatnam Industrial Corridor has the potential to emerge as a key growth driver for eastern India.
The delegation also acknowledged Odisha’s strengths in sectors such as eco-tourism, spiritual tourism, and traditional crafts, including Dokra art and palm leaf painting. Dinakar further praised the state’s disaster management systems, particularly its preparedness in handling cyclones and coastal emergencies.
Highlighting governance aspects, he noted Odisha’s strong fiscal management and its high ranking in the Fiscal Health Index, along with effective implementation of welfare schemes and rapid urban development.
During the session, officials from the Planning & Convergence Department presented details of Odisha’s Vision Document and SDG achievements, while the Finance Department shared insights into the impact of Centrally Sponsored Schemes on poverty reduction and socio-economic progress.
Dinakar said the visit would help facilitate exchange of best practices and deepen cooperation between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh in advancing shared development goals.
