Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust Celebrates 5th Foundation Day with Focus on Compassion and Growth

Bhubaneswar: Amrit Dhara Palliative Care Trust marked its 5th Foundation Day with a heartwarming celebration at the Seminar Hall of KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. The event was graced by Padmashree Prof. Dr. Subrat Kumar Acharya as the Chief Guest and Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohapatra, Director of Health Services, Government of Odisha, as the Guest of Honour.

Chairperson of Amrit Dhara, Dr. Mami Parija, welcomed the dignitaries, while Secretary Namrata Rath presented the Annual Report, spotlighting significant milestones achieved during the past year. These included the inauguration of a second center in Kalinga Nagar and a community-based service center in Sundargarh district.

Padmashree Prof. Dr. Acharya, in his keynote address, emphasized the importance of compassion and emotional connection in patient care. Drawing from his extensive experience, he highlighted how these elements are integral to the palliative care journey.

Dr. Mohapatra outlined the Odisha government’s commitment to expanding palliative care services, sharing details about policies aimed at ensuring access for those in need across all districts.

Dr. Bidhu Kalyan Mohanti, Director-Academic at Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre and Research Institute, and an advisor to Amrit Dhara, reflected on the lessons learned over the years in advancing palliative care.

A significant highlight of the day was the launch of Amrit Sahay, underscoring Amrit Dhara’s dedication to collaborative efforts in palliative care. Over the past five years, the Trust has made remarkable strides in providing care for terminally ill cancer patients and offering training to doctors, nurses, volunteers, and caregivers.

The Annual Report, detailing the Trust’s journey and accomplishments, was also released and distributed among attendees.

The celebration reflected Amrit Dhara’s unwavering focus on delivering comprehensive care and fostering community engagement. The Trust’s expansion into new regions and its commitment to training initiatives highlight its vision of providing comfort and dignity to those in need.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Dr. Sumita Mohanty, Trustee of Amrit Dhara, expressing gratitude to the attendees, collaborators, and supporters who have contributed to the Trust’s mission over the years.

Amrit Dhara’s journey over the past five years stands as a testament to its dedication to compassionate care, with a bright future ahead as it continues to expand its reach and impact.
