Amit Shah Inaugurates Sri Vishweshathirtha Memorial Hospital in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the Sri Vishweshathirtha Memorial Hospital in Bengaluru today, marking a significant step in providing accessible healthcare to the underprivileged. The 150-bed multi-specialty hospital, built on a two-acre campus at a cost of ₹60 crore, aims to serve the poor and marginalized communities with modern medical facilities.

During his address, Shah highlighted that 60% of the hospital’s beds have been reserved for the economically weaker sections, ensuring that high-quality healthcare reaches those in need. He commended the Sri Krishna Seva Ashram Trust for its commitment to service, crediting its founder, the revered Sri Vishweshathirtha Swamiji, for laying the foundation of a legacy that continues under Sri Vishwprasannteerth Swamiji. He noted that the establishment of the Sri Krishna Medical Center, Sri Krishna Netralaya, Dental Center, and Sri Vishwprasannteerth Memorial Clinic further reinforces this mission.

Shah praised the Pejawar Mutt’s contributions to national unity and religious harmony, noting its significant role in preventing forced conversions, strengthening the Ram Mandir movement, and promoting Hindutva and Sanatan Dharma. He emphasized that the mutt, following the teachings of Sri Madhvacharya, has long guided devotees on the path of spiritual enlightenment.

Reflecting on the life of Sri Vishweshathirtha Swamiji, Shah described him as a rare saint who dedicated his life to spirituality, social service, and education. Taking sanyas at the young age of eight, Swamiji spent over eight decades in selfless service. His efforts in uniting Hindu society and promoting education and healthcare earned him the Padma Vibhushan, which was posthumously conferred by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020.

Shah linked the hospital’s inauguration to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s broader vision for a healthier India. He highlighted flagship healthcare initiatives such as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Fit India Movement, Poshan Mission, Mission Indradhanush, Ayushman Bharat Yojana, and Jal Jeevan Mission. He explained that these programs collectively address cleanliness, nutrition, immunization, access to clean drinking water, and financial support for medical treatment.

Stressing the importance of religious and service-oriented organizations in public welfare, Shah expressed confidence that the Sri Vishweshathirtha Memorial Hospital will play a key role in strengthening healthcare services in Bengaluru.
