New Delhi: On the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, the Pt. Ravishankar Music Studio at Broadcasting House, Akashvani resonated with the soulful melodies of Indian classical music as it hosted a special event marking the launch of a new radio programme series, ‘Har Kanthh Mein Bharat’.
The series, jointly presented by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Public Service Broadcaster, Akashvani, aims to showcase the rich and diverse shades of Indian classical music on the airwaves. It will be broadcast daily at 9:30 AM from 21 stations across India until February 16, 2025, ensuring widespread reach and accessibility to music lovers nationwide.
In her welcome address, DG, Akashvani, Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur highlighted the celestial significance of Basant Panchami, symbolizing the confluence of Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Lakshmi as spring sets in. She elaborated on the concept and vision behind ‘Har Kanthh Mein Bharat’, expressing optimism about its success in popularizing Indian classical music.
The series was digitally inaugurated by Aruneesh Chawla and Gaurav Dwivedi, drawing a standing ovation from the audience. Speaking at the launch, CEO, Prasar Bharati, Gaurav Dwivedi lauded Akashvani’s historical role in preserving and promoting Indian music and emphasized how such creative collaborations could open new avenues for the arts.
In his keynote speech, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Aruneesh Chawla, spoke about the vision behind this cultural initiative. He detailed various government efforts to preserve and promote performing arts in the face of rapid technological advancements. He stressed that involving younger generations in such projects was crucial for keeping these traditions alive.
The event was further enriched by live musical performances that captivated the audience. The Saraswati Vandana and a vocal rendition in Raag Basant set the tone for the evening, while a mesmerizing Raag Des performance on the Sarod left the attendees spellbound.
As ‘Har Kanthh Mein Bharat’ begins its nationwide broadcast, the series is expected to revive interest in Indian classical music and connect listeners to India’s rich cultural heritage.
