
Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Railway Station will soon have airport-like modern facilities for passengers, informed East Coast Railway General Manager Vidya Bhushan on Friday.
Bhushan visited the station and took stock of the various passenger amenities and facilities required to be developed as part of the station redevelopment plan.
As per the plan the station will be developed into a world class station. The station will be developed into a commercial hub with aesthetic lighting, improved signage, and improved passenger amenities including a waiting hall.
More amenities will be provided to the travelling public. Apart from this, the Circulating area will also be developed and will be beautified. Drainage system will be thoroughly addressed. More parking space will be provided near PF-6 side.
The station will be developed in collaboration with the Odisha State Government at an approximate cost of 1075 crores. The MoU for Bhubaneswar station redevelopment with the state government and ECoR was signed in September 2019.
There will be a shopping complex, restaurant, parking and other facilities in the Station. two additional lines will be constructed. This will be constructed as a modern business centre.
“This would be one of the best stations in the Eastern part of India,” said Bhushan.
Railway authorities are conducting regular meetings with state government officials. “A detailed project report and plan for construction has been done. After finalizing the detailed project estimate, tender will be floated. Within six months, work will be done as per the plan,” he informed.
He also appealed for suggestions and ideas for enhancing the aesthetics.
