Bhubaneswar: Higher secondary schools across Odisha must install CCTV cameras in examination halls and other designated areas by November 30, 2026, to ensure transparent and smooth conduct of the annual Plus II examinations in 2027.
The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, has made CCTV surveillance mandatory in examination halls, strong rooms, centre superintendents’ offices and laboratories. The council has also directed institutions to make arrangements for live streaming of the examinations.
In a letter issued on Wednesday, CHSE Controller of Examinations Prasanta Kumar Parida asked principals of all higher secondary schools in the state to complete the installation within the stipulated deadline.
Institutions that already have CCTV cameras have been instructed to check their functionality and ensure that all systems are operational before the examinations begin.
Schools that have applied for new examination centres must also install CCTV cameras in their examination halls and the rooms of centre superintendents by November 30.
The CHSE has warned of strict action against institutions that fail to comply with the directive. Schools that do not install the required CCTV systems and meet the prescribed conditions within the deadline may face cancellation of their examination centres for both theory and practical examinations.
The council may also report defaulting institutions to the state government for appropriate action, according to the letter.
The directive is aimed at strengthening monitoring and ensuring greater transparency in the conduct of the Plus II annual examinations scheduled for 2027.
