AFMS and ICMR Join Forces for Collaborative Research and Training

New Delhi: In a significant move towards advancing biomedical research and academics, the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 23. The MoU, aimed at fostering cooperation and collaboration, was signed by Secretary of the Department of Health Research & Director General of ICMR, Dr. Rajiv Bahl, and Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services, Lt Gen Daljit Singh.

The primary objective of this MoU is to undertake joint activities in the field of biomedical research and academics, addressing multidisciplinary scientific, technological, and educational challenges relevant to both the nation and the Armed Forces.

One of the key areas of focus under this partnership is health research in various domains pertinent to Armed Forces Personnel, including High Altitude, Battle-related trauma/Post-traumatic stress disorder, Aerospace medicine, Infectious diseases, and other health-related issues.

The collaboration between AFMS and ICMR aims to leverage the expertise and resources of both organizations to tackle complex health challenges faced by Armed Forces Personnel effectively. By pooling their strengths in research, training, and academia, the two entities seek to enhance the well-being and health outcomes of military personnel.
