Union Home Minister Amit Shah Launches E-Bus Service and Distributes Appointment Letters in Jammu
New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the e-bus service in Jammu and distributed over a thousand appointment letters for Jammu & Kashmir Combined Examination-2024 and compassionate appointments through a video conference from New Delhi.
In his address, Shri Amit Shah highlighted the significance of the event, emphasizing the introduction of 100 fully air-conditioned e-buses to serve the people of Jammu. The project involves the operation and maintenance of these buses for 12 years, with a total cost of Rs 561 crore. Shri Shah credited the Modi government for its commitment to environmental awareness and the implementation of schemes for e-buses across the country, now benefiting Jammu with 100 e-buses, including 25 buses of 12 meters and 75 buses of 9 meters.

- E-Bus Features: The e-buses are aimed at providing reliable, comfortable, economical, and durable public transport for the people of Jammu. The buses will operate on routes connecting Jammu to Katra, Kathua, Udhampur, and internal routes within Jammu.

- Compassionate Appointments: A total of 885 individuals received appointment letters under compassionate appointments. Since August 2019, 34,440 vacancies have been filled, reflecting the government’s commitment to address unemployment.
- National Voters Day: Shri Amit Shah acknowledged National Voters Day and urged youth above 18 years to register in the electoral rolls, emphasizing the importance of democratic participation to strengthen India and Jammu & Kashmir’s democracy.
- Peace and Security in Jammu & Kashmir: Shri Shah highlighted the positive outcomes in Jammu & Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370, including a significant decline in terrorism-related incidents, civilian deaths, and security force casualties. He noted the reduction in incidents of organized stone pelting and strikes, showcasing a new era of peace.
- Efforts Against Terrorism: The Home Minister emphasized the government’s strict measures against terrorism, cracking down on terror financing, sealing and freezing terrorists’ assets, and outlawing several terrorist organizations.
The event marked a new phase in Jammu’s public transportation system with the introduction of eco-friendly e-buses and reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency, merit-based recruitment, and fostering peace and development in Jammu & Kashmir.
