Cyclonic storm Mocha intensifies into severe cyclonic storm, to hit Bangladesh-Myanmar coast
Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department in its latest update informed that the Cyclonic storm Mocha has intensified into a Severe Cyclonic storm.
The system is likely to hit Bangladesh-Myanmar coast with maximum speed of 165 kmph. It lay centered near latitude 12.2 N and longitude 88.0 E about 520 km west of Port Blair 1100 km southwest of Coxs Bazar Bangladesh at 5.30 pm on Thursday.
Cyclone Mocha is likely to recurve gradually, move north-northeastwards from May 12 morning and intensify further into a very severe cyclonic storm around May 12 evening over central Bay of Bengal. It would reach its peak intensity around May 13 evening. It is likely to cross southeast Bangladesh and north Myanmar coasts between Cox’s Bazar (Bangladesh) and Kyaukpyu (Myanmar), close to Sittwe (Myanmar) around noon of May 14 with maximum sustained wind speed of 140-150 kmph gusting to 165 kmph.
