WHO: COVID-19 no longer a global health emergency
In a historic moment, the World Health Organisation on Friday declared that COVID-19 is no longer a global health emergency.
Director general of WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the announcement.
The COVID-19 pandemic which emerged in 2019 turned into a global pandemic in 2020 forcing countries to announce complete lockdowns and declare emergencies to prevent the spread of the virus.

For the past three years, all the countries across the world have been struggling with the virus which killed million people globally and made billions sick.
Over 5.5 billion people have received COVID vaccine which is over 70% of the world’s population.
A steady decline in deaths has been observed since a peak in January 2021. Now, COVID deaths are at their lowest since March 2020.
