PM Modi Inaugurates Rs 5,500 Crore Development Projects in Prayagraj, Highlights Preparations for Maha Kumbh 2025

Prayagraj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and launched multiple development projects worth approximately Rs 5,500 crore during his visit to Prayagraj today. Addressing a gathering, the Prime Minister paid homage to the sacred city of Prayagraj, the land of the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, and commended the efforts of saints, workers, and sanitation staff in making the Mahakumbh a grand success.

Highlighting the cultural and spiritual significance of the Maha Kumbh, Prime Minister Modi described it as one of the world’s largest gatherings, where millions of devotees unite for a 45-day spiritual congregation. Calling it a “MahaYagya of unity,” he emphasized how the upcoming Maha Kumbh 2025 would elevate India’s spiritual and cultural identity globally.

“The Maha Kumbh is not just a religious event but a symbol of India’s cultural and spiritual legacy, promoting unity beyond all barriers of caste, creed, and language,” Modi remarked, urging citizens to make the event a beacon of national unity.

The Prime Minister announced several projects to enhance Prayagraj’s infrastructure and improve facilities for pilgrims. These include the development of corridors for the Akshay Vat, Hanuman Mandir, and Bharadwaj Rishi Ashram, alongside the redevelopment of sites like Saraswati Koop and Nagvasuki Mandir. Efforts are underway to improve connectivity with nearby cities, including Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Lucknow, ensuring seamless travel for millions of devotees.

Additionally, Modi praised the Namami Gange initiative, emphasizing the deployment of over 15,000 sanitation workers to maintain cleanliness during the Kumbh. Reflecting on the 2019 Kumbh, he recalled washing the feet of sanitation workers to honor their service.

The Prime Minister highlighted the economic benefits of the Kumbh, noting its role in boosting local employment and business activities. From boatmen to shopkeepers and merchants, thousands will benefit from the surge in visitors. Modi also lauded the integration of technology for Maha Kumbh 2025, including the introduction of the AI-powered ‘Kumbh Sahayak’ chatbot in 11 Indian languages, which will assist pilgrims with information and services.

Proposing initiatives like photography and essay competitions, Modi suggested using social media and digital platforms to engage youth and showcase the Kumbh as a symbol of unity and spirituality.

Prime Minister Modi delved into Prayagraj’s historical and spiritual legacy, reciting Sanskrit verses to emphasize its significance. He described the city as a convergence of faith, knowledge, and devotion, noting its association with sacred texts and figures like Rishi Bhardwaj and Nishadraj. He also highlighted the symbolism of Lord Ram’s journey through Prayagraj, emphasizing the values of devotion and friendship.

Looking ahead to Maha Kumbh 2025, Modi expressed confidence that the event would inspire collective thought and unity, driving India towards its developmental goals. He praised the joint efforts of central and state governments in planning the event and wished for it to be a memorable occasion for all attendees.

The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with other dignitaries.

“Prayagraj is not just a city; it is a spiritual experience,” the Prime Minister concluded, extending an invitation to pilgrims worldwide to partake in the divine confluence at Maha Kumbh 2025.
