New Delhi: The third edition of World Food India 2024, organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, successfully concluded today at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The four-day mega food event, held from September 19 to 22, was inaugurated by Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi, Chirag Paswan, and Ravneet Singh Bittu.
One of the key highlights was the inauguration of food processing units at 67 locations under the PLISFPI and PMKSY schemes, with a total investment of ₹5,135 crore. In addition, 25,000 beneficiaries received credit-linked support for micro projects worth ₹2,351 crore under the PMFME scheme, while ₹245 crore in seed capital was sanctioned to 70,000 SHG members. The event marked the achievement of the Government’s 100-day action plan.
The event, supported by nine ministries, 26 states, and multiple associated bodies, saw a tremendous turnout, with 1,557 exhibitors, 20 country pavilions, and participation from 809 buyers from 108 countries. Over 2,390 foreign delegates, along with 13 state ministers and 4 central ministers, attended World Food India 2024.
Spread across 70,000 square meters, the event provided a platform for showcasing advancements in food processing. It exhibited over 100 One District One Product (ODOP) items and hosted 16 international delegations, including six ministerial teams. Japan was the Partner Country, with Iran and Vietnam as Focus Countries.
A CEO Roundtable, co-chaired by Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Chirag Paswan, brought together more than 100 CXOs from leading Indian and global companies. Key discussions centered on business facilitation, GST issues, and addressing gaps in India’s food processing value chain.
Over four days, the event featured 40 sessions, including thematic, state, and ministry-focused discussions on subjects like zero waste, sustainable packaging, and food safety. The Startup Grand Challenge rewarded innovations in waste management and food processing technologies, with financial and incubation support from NIFTEM-Kundli.
In conjunction with the event, the Global Food Regulators Summit 2024 organized by FSSAI hosted delegates from over 70 countries, fostering discussions on regulatory issues.
One of the major highlights was the Technology and Sustainability Pavilion, which showcased innovations in eco-friendly food production. Additionally, a chef competition celebrated the fusion of traditional and modern culinary techniques.
Partnerships were also a key focus, with NIFTEM-K signing MoUs with 11 companies, 3 development partners, and 4 academic institutions, promoting research, product development, and incubation activities.
