President Droupadi Murmu Presents National Florence Nightingale Awards 2024 to Nursing Professionals

New Delhi: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, today honored 15 outstanding nursing professionals with the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Awards for 2024 at a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The award, a symbol of recognition for exemplary service and dedication to healthcare, celebrates the selfless contributions of nurses across the country.

The event was attended by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel, and other prominent dignitaries.

In her address, President Murmu lauded the awardees for their commitment to duty and service to the community, acknowledging the critical role nurses play in safeguarding public health. She remarked, “Nurses are the unsung heroes of our healthcare system, working tirelessly to ensure the well-being of individuals and communities. Their dedication, compassion, and professionalism set a remarkable example for all.”

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda congratulated the awardees and expressed his gratitude for their contributions. He emphasized, “Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare sector, providing essential care and support. This accolade will inspire them to continue pushing the boundaries in public service, making a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals.”

Instituted in 1973 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Florence Nightingale Awards are given annually to nursing personnel employed in Central and State/UTs hospitals, voluntary organizations, and other healthcare settings. The award recognizes nurses for their outstanding contributions in clinical, educational, and administrative roles within the healthcare system.

Each award comprises a Certificate of Merit, a cash prize of ₹1,00,000, and a medal. The recipients are selected based on their service in various categories, including Registered Auxiliary Nurses & Midwives, Registered Nurses & Midwives, and Registered Lady Visitors.
