Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth Launches GAINS 2024 in Kolkata
Kolkata: Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth today launched the “GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS 2024)” of Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) in Kolkata. This innovative scheme aims to address challenges faced by shipyards and promote technological development through startups created and nurtured in India. It encourages and enables Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and startups to develop innovative solutions for technological advancement. This initiative aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Start-up India’ policies.
Speaking at the event, Raksha Rajya Mantri praised GRSE’s contributions to nation-building. He emphasized that innovations and technological advancements like GAINS will shape the future of Indian defense, enhancing maritime security and air defense capabilities. “With our technological advancements and dedication, we will strengthen our armed forces and enhance maritime security,” he said.
Cmde PR Hari, IN (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director of GRSE, highlighted the importance of new technology adoption for the shipyard. “New Technology adoption is a key focus area of the shipyard, and I am confident that GAINS 2024 will be a major contributor towards this. I wish the brilliant Indian startups the very best in making these nation-building initiatives a huge success,” he stated.
GAINS is a unique national scheme designed to encourage and enable MSMEs and startups to develop innovative solutions that GRSE can incorporate for technological advancement. The initiative aims to leverage the vast ecosystem of MSMEs and startups to address current and emerging challenges in the ship design and construction industry, while achieving the objectives of Atmanirbharta (self-reliance).
