Empowering Aspirations: Dr. Ambedkar Foundation’s Free Coaching Scheme for SCs and OBCs
New Delhi: The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is steering a transformative initiative, the Free Coaching Scheme for SCs and OBCs. This visionary scheme aims to provide coaching for competitive examinations, enabling individuals to secure coveted positions in both the Public and Private Sectors. Additionally, it facilitates admission to esteemed technical and professional higher educational institutions.
Commencing from the academic year 2023-24, the Free Coaching Scheme is administered by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) through the Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence (DACE), strategically established in Central Universities across the nation. The scheme is designed to empower and uplift students from Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) by providing them with the necessary tools and guidance to excel in competitive exams.
Under the scheme, funds are directly disbursed to the students through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism, ensuring a seamless and efficient process. Currently, 17 Central Universities have formalized their commitment to the cause by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Dr. Ambedkar Foundation. These MoUs serve as a testament to the universities’ dedication to imparting coaching and fostering an environment of educational excellence.
In addition to coaching for the Civil Services Examination, the scheme caters to various other competitive examinations, broadening its scope and impact. Detailed information about the scheme, including its guidelines and provisions, is accessible on the FCS portal (coaching.dosje.gov.in) and the official Social Justice and Empowerment website (https://socialjustice.gov.in/schemes/30).
The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri A. Narayanaswamy, shared this insightful information in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to fostering education and providing equal opportunities for marginalized communities, laying the foundation for a more inclusive and empowered society
