
New Delhi: A group of 91 students and six teachers from the Vellalar College of Nursing in Erode, Tamil Nadu, visited New Delhi today, where they had the opportunity to interact with Minister of State (MoS) for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan.
During the meeting, Dr. Murugan emphasized the nobility of the nursing profession and the urgent need for more human resources in the healthcare sector. He inspired the students to recognize their crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare in India.
The event began with enthusiastic introductions, where each student was presented to Dr. Murugan. In his address, he highlighted the remarkable advancements in India’s healthcare system under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Notably, he mentioned that the number of All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has increased to 23, and medical seats have surged to over 107,000 as part of the Prime Minister’s vision.
Dr. Murugan also reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s ambition of establishing a medical college in every district, aiming to position India as a global leader in healthcare.
Furthermore, he pointed to the new Parliament building, constructed under Modi’s leadership, as a testament to local craftsmanship, reflecting the government’s commitment to the “Vocal for Local” initiative. He stressed the importance of the younger generation in the journey towards a developed India by 2047.
Encouraging the students, Dr. Murugan stated that they are the future of the nation and urged them to pledge towards progressive growth. He highlighted the significance of learning new languages, both foreign and Indian, to prepare for job opportunities across India and internationally.
