146th NDA Convocation Ceremony Held in Pune
Pune: The National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune celebrated the Convocation Ceremony of its 146th course at the Habibullah Hall, where 205 cadets were awarded the prestigious Bachelor’s degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. (Dr.) Sat Prakash Bansal, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala, and Vice Chancellor (Additional Charge) of Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
The degrees conferred included 82 cadets in the Science stream, 84 in Computer Science, and 39 in Arts. Additionally, 17 cadets from friendly foreign countries received their degrees. The B Tech stream, consisting of 132 cadets from the Navy and Air Force, received certificates for completing the three-year course. These cadets will receive their degrees after an additional year of training at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, and the Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, respectively.
The academic report of the Spring Term 2024 was presented, highlighting the cadets’ achievements. In his convocation address, Prof. Bansal congratulated the cadets for completing their rigorous training at one of the world’s premier military academies. He also expressed gratitude to the parents for encouraging their children to join this esteemed Tri-Services training institute of the Indian Armed Forces.
Ahead of the Passing Out Parade, a Cadets’ Activity Display was held at Bombay Stadium, showcasing the exceptional skills acquired through various military training aspects. The event was attended by Chief of Army Staff Gen Manoj Pande, senior dignitaries, and the proud parents of the cadets.
The display began with a traditional standing salute and flag hoisting, followed by a series of impressive demonstrations. Cadets exhibited daring equestrian skills, a synchronized Tri-Services Attack Demo, and a breathtaking sky diving display by the elite Akash Ganga Team. Their physical training prowess was on full display through well-coordinated skipping rope exercises and gymnastic maneuvers. The event also featured an outstanding musical ride and concluded with the High Horse Team’s tableau formation, bidding farewell to the 146th Course.
