Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan Reviews ₹100 Crore Infrastructure Projects in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan chaired a high-level review meeting on Tuesday to assess the progress of road, bridge, and building projects valued at over ₹100 crore under the Works Department. The meeting, held at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Hall, reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to improving infrastructure across Odisha.

Minister Harichandan made it clear that delays or compromises in the quality of projects would not be tolerated. He stressed the importance of strict monitoring and instructed departmental officers, Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, and Executive Officers to conduct monthly progress reviews to ensure timely and high-quality execution of ongoing projects.

“Delays and substandard work are unacceptable. We need to prioritize efficiency and quality at every level of the project,” the Minister said during the meeting. He also directed officials to proactively address challenges faced by contractors and ensure the effective deployment of resources to meet project deadlines.

The Minister warned that any complaints related to delays or poor-quality work would lead to strict government action. He emphasized that past performance would be a key factor in awarding future contracts, reinforcing the government’s commitment to accountability.

Updates were provided on major ongoing projects, including the Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, and Jaipur bypass roads, infrastructure development at Koraput, Jeypore, Jajpur, and Capital hospitals, and various other building projects. The Minister also sought updates on the construction of high-level bridges over rivers in the state.

The meeting was attended by Works Department Secretary V.V. Yadav, EIC (Civil) Purnachandra Mahapatra, Special Secretary of the Works Department L.K. Padhi, OBCC Managing Director Samir Hota, and other senior officers along with representatives from contracting agencies.
