Women’s Premier League Season 2 to Kick Off on February 23 in Bengaluru

Bangalore: The eagerly awaited second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is all set to commence on February 23 in Bengaluru. The tournament will begin with a clash between last year’s finalists, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, starting at 7:30 pm.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially released the schedule for the highly anticipated TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024. The second edition of this prominent women’s T20 league is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru and Delhi from February 23 to March 17, 2024. The riveting T20 tournament will feature five formidable teams, offering a total of 20 league matches and two knockout matches, ensuring intense competition and top-notch cricketing performances.

In this upcoming season, all matches will be single headers, commencing at 7:30 PM IST. The initial 11 matches are slated for Bengaluru, followed by the remaining nine league matches and the two Playoff matches in Delhi.

The league will kick off with a high-profile clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and the runners-up of the first season, Delhi Capitals. Adding to the excitement, Royal Challengers Bangalore will play their first home game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 24, taking on UP Warriorz. Subsequent matches will see Gujarat Giants launching their 2024 WPL campaign against Mumbai Indians.

Moving to the Delhi leg on March 5, the home team Delhi Capitals will face Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Similar to Bengaluru, Delhi will host matches daily until the conclusion of the last league match on March 13. Following the league stage, the team securing the top spot in the points table will earn a direct berth to the final.

The Eliminator, set to be a thrilling encounter between the second and third-placed teams, will unfold on Friday, March 15. The winner of the Eliminator will progress to the final, where they will vie for the prestigious trophy against the top-ranked team in the ultimate showdown on Sunday, March 17. Cricket enthusiasts can anticipate a fortnight of exhilarating cricket action and fierce competition among the best women cricketers in the country.
