Wipro Appoints Srinivas Pallia as New CEO and MD, Thierry Delaporte Steps Down

Bengaluru: Wipro, one of India’s leading IT firms, has announced the appointment of Srinivas Pallia as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD), effective April 7. Pallia, who has been an integral part of Wipro since 1992, will succeed Thierry Delaporte, who has decided to step down from his role to explore endeavors beyond the corporate sphere, the company confirmed in a statement.

With a distinguished tenure spanning nearly three decades at Wipro, Pallia has served in various leadership capacities, including President of Wipro’s Consumer Business Unit and Global Head of Business Application Services. Most recently, he has been at the helm as the CEO for Wipro’s Americas 1 market. In his new role, Pallia will be based out of New Jersey and will report directly to Wipro’s Chairman, Azim Premji.

Delaporte, aged 56, who assumed the position of CEO and MD in July 2020, will collaborate closely with Pallia and Premji until the end of May to ensure a seamless transition. Originally slated to serve until July 2025, Delaporte’s tenure has been marked by notable strategic initiatives and organizational reforms. Prior to his tenure at Wipro, Delaporte held the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Capgemini.

Expressing his enthusiasm for his new role, Pallia stated, “I am excited to build on the strong foundation established by Thierry and lead Wipro on its next growth trajectory.” Pallia brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new position, holding a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s in management studies from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.

As Wipro embarks on this leadership transition, the company remains committed to its vision of innovation and growth, leveraging its robust talent pool and global capabilities to navigate the evolving landscape of the IT industry.
